Almost Weekend

I’m so excited.  It is technically the weekend for me.  I am not working tomorrow.  Instead, I’m driving to Atlanta to visit my best friend and family.  Lots of good times.  If you know some nice spots in the A, let me know.  I’ll be at the Atlanta Football Classic, and I’ll make sure to post photos when I return.  I should have some behind the scenes footage…  I still haven’t decided whether I’m going for FAMU or TSU.  I like FAMU, but I would like to see the underdogs pull off an upset.

In nerdy-geeky news, I found this article about hydroxyl radicals and bacterial topoisomerase poisons that just made my day! Oh science, you’re like an abusive boyfriend.

This morning I got a pretty good start on my workout regimen with a classmate.  We explored one of the trails near my house and we got started at 8am.  It was BLAZING hot by the time we finished.  We will definitely have to start earlier.

Tonight I’m checking out Buju Banton.  I heard his performances are a little crazy.  We’ll see.

VMAs

So the VMA Janet tribute was great.  I was wanting a little bit more though.  I guess beggars can’t be choosers.  I loved every minute of it though.

Was it just me or was Madonna really loving herself?  I was wondering if it was Madonna monologues, then MJ tribute later.

Russell Brand.  No sir.  I immediately turned to catch the Bears v. Packers.

I have been shopping online for some jeans.  What is up with all these hobbit pants?  What the hell am I gonna do with 31 inches of inseam?!  No ma’am – I need at least 33″ and preferably 34″!  Get to it.

Please and thank ya.

Poker Face

You can’t read my poker face.

Some days I feel like Lady Gaga singing acoustic.  Peep the video below.

Yes, foot on the keys and all.  She should have severe sore throat.

I ended up staying in town this weekend.  I’m pleased with the amount of fun I had, but not with the amount of work I got done.  Saturday, I made it into the lab for almost an hour.  Then that was it! I had an unexpected visitor on Sunday – so I went to a cookout and then to the Carolina Ale House.  I was supposed to go to a rooftop party (?) but it was pouring down raining – no thanks!

Hopefully, I can do enough work this week to make up for skipping out on the weekend.

Auto-Tune Response

So, this week has been crazier than most.

I returned from North Myrtle Beach on Sunday, May 11.  From the previous Thursday up until Monday the 12th I probably had about 15 hours of sleep.  My body was ti-red.  Plus my project in the lab was giving me issues.  So this has not been the week for me.

I can’t seem to get back on schedule.  Every night, I can’t get to bed until 2 or 3am which makes it very difficult for me to wake up in the morning.  Even worse, I was getting in to lab around noon, leaving me to continue working until 7 or 8 pm.  Then dinner and back to more study and preparation – the vicious cycle repeats itself.

Thursday night I went to see The Color Purple at the DPAC.  Phyre Harris was playing the role of Celie, and I think it was a great performance.  However, I did find myself thinking, I bet Fantastia would’ve killed that part!  I really enjoyed it, and if my paper was stacked, I’d buy myself season tickets to the DPAC.

Last night I crashed on my couch at 8pm.  I woke up at 2, decided to start some dough from my new book “Artisan Bread in Five Minutes“  around 5 am.  It’s so easy that I could do it in the middle of the night/mid-morning. Yessir.

Perusing around the internet today – - ok, ok I was actually only reading the blogs in my GoogleReader, I came across Vashtie‘s post on the Auto-tune News.  It included the following video:

I was DEAD watching this!  My favorite parts were the lady saying “not an east coast thing, not a west coast thing” and Katie Couric’s portion on global warming!  This really made my day.  It makes me wish that I had an auto-tune converter built into my voice box so when people approach me with ridiculousness they could receive and Auto-Tuned Response.

Anybody asking me to do anything that is not urgent will receive an auto-tune response.
Yep, that what I’ve pretty much decided.

Recap

I never got a chance to say how great The Foreign Exchange was at Cat’s Cradle the other night. Absolutely loved the show.  I purchased the Darien Brockington album back when I first picked up Leave It All Behind.  He was impressive at the show.  After hearing Yazahrah at the show, I feel like she could have EASILY replaced Muhsinah on most of the tracks.  I might try to catch Yazahrah opening for India.Arie soon. Take the jump…
