Lurkers.

Congrats to the Lakers….

And now for the LURKERS.

I can see my stats, and I know you are out there lurking.  What’s especially lurker-strange is when someone I personally know is reading my posts, but not commenting.  You know who you are.
I’ll share:  A friend of mine called and asked if my seats had dried out.
I was wondering
1) what he was talking about because I had forgotten about the rain incident
AND
2) how he knew my seats in my car were soaking wet and reeking of mildew.
Then I had an a-ha moment.  He’d read my blog.  Poked around and “never heard a word from ‘em.”

That’s like someone coming to your house, walking up to the front door, and instead of ringing the bell they peek into your window and watch what you’re doing, then they go back home.

So the moral of the story? Leave a comment if you’re here!

I Can’t Live

…without my RADIO! –LL Cool J

I’ve been listening to xL Spinback on XM Radio, and now I can’t get all the old school hip hop songs out my mind!

Weekend Recap:
Saturday morning
was the Susan Komen 5K.  I didn’t run – I briskly walked.  I attempted to jog, and that got old real quick.  Now my hip hurts. Damn, I’m out of shape.  That was a reality check if ever I’ve seen one.  BSmo – I’m ready to get in some swim training. Don’t look surprised when I show up to your pool wearing a full scuba suit.
I tried to sleep following the race, but my Mom and her friend wanted to go our for mani’s and pedi’s and a late breakfast.  So that was cool.  I attempted some packing, but mostly watched CSI reruns.  Later that night I went out to Chapel Thrill (womp womp!) and then to a house party.  It was like 2am when I got to the house party.  I chatted it up with a couple of people, took LizO home, and I made it in around 4:15am.

Sunday morning I awaken to the phone ringing at 9am.  It’s an old friend from high school just calling to say what’s up.  Seriously? Kill yourself man.  I dragged myself downstairs for some Yogi tea and started packing things up in the kitchen.  I head out for my weekly gas up and paper run around 7pm.  I went to meet a colleague and her friend to watch the game at the Carolina Ale House, then called it a night. Plenty of eyeroll worthy text messages I forgot to mention…

MONDAY – I was feeling like a sloth.  A pep talk from one of my good friends got me up and moving.  I got a lot of stuff done as far as cleaning out closets and donating clothes, but my house looks like Hurricane Katrina or something. I made a quick drive to Greensboro, and now it’s 8:30pm and I’m in the lab knocking out a couple of quick digests and planning out my experiments for the week.

Soundtrack for the past week has been Ciara’s Fantasy Ride.  I know the album didn’t do well, but I can’t help but find myself humming some of the songs.  “Ciara to the stage…

Not so Bad

I enjoyed my first green monster, but to ensure it wasn’t a fluke, I had another when I got home last night.

Survey says:
Nope not a fluke.

I started off this morning with one also.  So that puts me at 3 green monsters in 2 days! Whew!

***EDIT****

I realized that I haven’t really talked about what a green monster is…or maybe I have.  Anyway, my green monsters have been a combination of spinach, milk, protein powder, fruit, and peanut butter.

Today’s Green Monster:

2 HANDFULS SPINACH
1/2 CUP MILK
FROZEN PEACHES
3 STRAWBERRIES
1 SCOOP MUSCLE MILK

I popped that badboy in the blender for a while, and it was excellent.  It made way more than one cup, but guess what? I drank the whole blender full. Don’t judge me!

Now there’s something else I’d like to discuss.  Something that’s been bothering me for a while…

I hate when people bring unnecessary noise into my personal space.  I work with my desk facing in one direction and my co-worker sits directly behind me facing the other direction.  Our bench spaces are also oriented the same way.  Her fiance works in the same building – actually in the lab right next door.  However, he spends ~45% of his time over here at her desk.  It’s already tight with just me and her over here.  It’s the end of the day and he comes over and reads different news headlines outline to solicit discussion.  No sir, don’t try to force discussion.  And it’s not just that – he’s freakin yelling.  I am giving him the eye of death – still no concern.  I’m trying to not say anything because I’ve been known to be a little rude and harsh.  But I think a little correction is in order.
If I don’t say something, I might pull my hair out! – - – Help me, Tom Cruise.

Aaah! Green Monster!

So last night I was up on the internet looking at a bunch of cool new blogs I have stumbled upon.  I was reading this cool fitness blog, and I decided that I would try a GREEN MONSTER today.  Unfortunatley, I forgot to take a picture but it was super yummy! I was pleasantly surprised. I used the following combo:

  • 1 humongous handful of spinach – not the baby kind
  • a 3 -4 second pouring of lactose-free milk (~1/2 cup)
  • a shake of wheat germ &  ground flaxseed
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 scoop of American Sports Nutrition protein powder
  • 4-5 frozen strawberries

I blended it all together and yum!  It was soooo tasty.  I couldn’t believe it.  I choose to believe my Green Monster helped me combat the following problems I faced over the next 5 minutes:

  1. The fat-free cottage cheese I picked up from Wal-Mart yesterday was ALREADY OPEN?  Seriously Wal-Mart?  That’s why I hate shopping there – and the fact that they treat their workers like crap.  I’m back to EarthFare and the Farmer’s Market.  At least someone hasn’t been eating my cottage cheese before it gets home.
  2. I walked to my car and my jaw immediately dropped: I left both my windows half way down overnight.  The weather channel reports that we had about 0.8 inches of rain last night.  Now imagine that sitting in my seats and floormats of my car.  I was super pissed.  However, I just took a sip of my green monster and carried on with my day.  I pulled a towel out of my gym bag and put it on my seat, and got in the car to whisk myself away to school – 2 hours late  – with the puddles in the floor.

I got to school super late, and I wasn’t even in the mood for lunch.  However, two of my friends tricked into feeling bad for missing my birthday went to lunch with me.  Yes, I am admitting that I tricked them – I went as far as leaving notes on one of their cars.  We had lunch at NOSH, and I had a grilled cheese… meh.  But I’m not hungry right now or even craving anything.

Behold the power of GREEN!

FEEL THE BURN!

FEEL THE BURN!

Well, I’ve somewhat fallen off of my workout bandwagon.  Last week I was able to get to yoga 4 times, and that’s pretty good for me!  I thought about joining LA Boxing, but that’s just silly. I cannot even finish the Yoga Challenge before I am off to the next thing.  I need to stick to this and just do my best.  I have the Susan Komen 5K this weekend.  Too bad I haven’t started preparing at all.  I’m all the way slacking.  I know these 3 miles are going to kick my butt.  It’s probably in my best interest to try and bang out a mile or two tonight at the gym.  I know I won’t make it to yoga, so I should try to at least get some type of workout in.
