I am supposed to be working, but instead I found myself watching Charlie Bartlett. Guess who has a cameo to get drugs from a friend? Drake! haha. Just thought it was funny.

Finally Fall

So it’s finally transitioning into fall around here.

I absolutely love fall and winter because I can layer up and wear all kinds of scarfs and blah blah blah.  I’ve included some pics of my favorite items below.  I’m being pretty lazy right now.  I’ve been throwing a jean jacket on with everything.  My Michael Kors watch and crown necklace are the only accessories I’ve worn on silver days.  On gold days I wear this lovely turtle necklace that belonged to my best friend’s grandmother and a gold Skagen watch.  Pretty basic.  I haven’t come across anything that I feel I just absolutely must have.

Coach boots I got last year.

I stopped by Cole Haan yesterday and got some leather cleaner and all this stuff.  I never ever clean my leather shoes or condition them or any of the stuff the sales rep was talking to me about.  He made me feel like a terrible shoe-mom.  Maybe if I had done all that stuff I wouldn’t have all the crap like water stains and cran’nvodka spills all over my shoes now.  I vow to do better lol.  I need to find a good cobbler too.  Anyway… once I clean the shoes I will do a before and after to see if we can tell the difference.

I’ve been carrying handbags a lot more often.  I used to just stuff everything in my backpack.  But once I got to lab, and needed to go to other places, I’d end up walking around with a bunch of crap in my hands.  Not cool.  So here are my latest guilty pleasures from UrbanOutfitters and Elliott Lucca.

As I get into my fall rotation, I will post more about that.

On to a more serious matter, I was in the mall yesterday when I saw something that really disturbed me.  I was going to get something to eat in the food court, and I was verbally assaulted by the people at the Chinese food place.  I mean they were beckoning, waving, holding up chicken on toothpicks, saying hey you pretty girl, hey come eat this, free just try it.  It was craaaaazy awkward.  I couldn’t believe they were serious.  I saw it happen to so many people.  I just had to smh and look away.  Whenever someone passed by with kids, one of the female workers bent down behind the counter and produced a plastic sword saying, “If you buy, free sword for little boy!”  It was pretty bad.  They were so loud and the mall was not packed so everyone was INSTANTLY put on the spot. Shame.

Needless to say, I ended up eating at Five Guys.

Yes, I’m Alive.

I haven’t updated in ages.  I haven’t really been reaching out to my friends – but there’s a reason for that.

I’ve been hella busy procrastinating.  I can’t seem to lock-in on my work, and it’s getting the best of me.  Plus, in efforts to be tech savvy, I overrode all my Blackberry contacts with the contacts on my computer.  So imagine ~400 numbers instantly deleted and replaced with the email addresses of a couple of professors and classmates.  Womp womp.  What am I gonna do with that?  At least I have my BBM contacts…

I’m back on my granola kick.  Granola is the one thing that allows me to eat yogurt.  Whenever I am working I have to snack.  It’s probably best that I don’t snack on fatty food like chips and Oreo’s.  So, granola seems to help me get it together without blowing up the size of a house.  I make my own into bars or as loose crumbles.  My recipe is loosely based on a recipe from www.joyfulabode.com.

ZDubb’s Granola
2 Cups Instant Oats
1 Cup Rolled Oats
1 Cup Rice Krispies
3/4 Cup Wheat Germ
1/2 Cup Golden Flax Seed Meal
3/4 Cup Sunflower Seeds
1 Handful of Millet
1/2 Cup of Sliced Almonds

Toast the above ingredients for 10 minutes @ 400deg F.

In a pot melt: 1/2 Cup Honey + 2 Tbsp Butter + 2 tsp Vanilla Extract + dash of salt.

Add ~12 oz of chopped dried fruit (I used Craisins, dates, cherries, and apricots) to the toasted ingredients.  Pour the honey mixture over all other ingredients, and mix well to evenly coat.

The end! <— If you plan to make crumbly granola

Put down wax paper and press into 9×13 pan if you want to make bars.  So yummy.
