Triangle Area Foodies — indulge in your favorite food with good conscience! This Sunday (or Monday), several area restaurants are donating 10% of their proceeds to the relief efforts in Haiti, either through the remarkable organization Partners in Health (http://photos.pih.org/home2.html) or the inspirational, locally-run Family Health Ministries (http://www.familyhm.org/). Eat out, enjoy, and contribute to a worthy cause!

To help:

*Many, many thanks to the restaurants for their generosity!*

Downtown

So Thursday night, I managed to get myself out the bed and into some decent clothes.  I went to Tigallo’s Two Step – or what I thought was supposed to be TTS.  It was dead.  Coffin.  At one point it was me, a girlfriend, the bartender, and the DJ in there.  That is all.

We wondered down the street to Bogart’s.  There was an interesting cast of characters at that spot.  One guy practically knocked over me and my friend to get to the bar/bartender.  Is it really that serious?  He eventually starts chatting us up.

He asks me if my mole is real. Seriously? Do I look like I’m drawing this shit on with eyeliner?
He doesn’t like a lot of make up. Do I have on lip liner? Now, here I throw a flag on the play.  Are you gay? And FYI, I love the gays.
He likes the way my eyebrows are nicely arched.  He’s really doing too much at this point.

He eventually lends the conversation to what he’s looking for in a woman.  Which is strange because he says that he just wants to be friends.  At this point, dude, I don’t even want to be THAT.  It was just a ridiculous evening.  I was more than happy to take it home and cuddle ALONE in my bed!

I didn’t plan Friday too well, and I ended up in the lab at 8pm.  But it was ok – I went out with some fellow science grad schoolers to Cosmic Cantina.  I love that place and their burritos.  And I was able to get a pitcher of margarita.  They took forever to get my burrito ready and everyone had their food but me.  Due to poor communication on their end, I ended up with two burritos at one point.  The girl working the register got all pissy.  I gave her the Bonquiqui look and she settled down.

Today is shaping up to be productive.  I had brunch with one of my lab favorites – Sunny – at the Flying Biscuit.  I love that place.  Too bad our experience there was only meh.  I wanted it to be stellar since I had bragged about it so much.

Since I’m in the library, I guess I should get to work.  Happy Saturday!

Don’t Call My Name.

Me: Don’t call my name.
Psycho Friend: Good thing you’re not Jesus….telling people don’t call your name.  What that sound like?

WTF?!
I would say something rude about my psycho friend, but the saying goes, “you are the company you keep.”  However,  I can’t afford to be grouped in that category right now.

I saw YahZarah at the Apple Store.  I was saying Oooooh I know who you are! She was probably thinking get away from me crazy person.  But she was real laid back and cool.  Aaah, that voice!  If I had her voice, I’d probably walk around singing rather than speaking.

Tonight I think I’ll drop into Six Plates for their Tuesday special.  I love that place.  The owner is great.  The lady that works there? Not so friendly.  The chef from Six Plates has another venture - Local Yogurt.  I haven’t made it over there, but it’s on my To-Try List.
